VoIP telecoms solution does not alter customer experience

Companies using Voice over Internet Protocal (VoIP) for their telecommunications solutions needn't be concerned that their customer's experience will change, according to one telecoms industry figure.

Vincent Potier, managing director of Vonage, argued that there was "no difference in a customer's experience."

Although similar to traditional telephone systems in procedure, VoIP calls differ from traditional telephone calls by instead carrying telephone signals as digital audio, optimised for transmission across the Internet.

A study by the EU recently found that up to 24% of European households had already replaced their landline contracts with mobile solutions instead.

The study also found that online telephony was being adopted at a quicker greater in eastern European countries.
