Europe's leading telecoms companies failing customers

According to latest research, Europe's largest telecommunications providers are failing to offer customers a "compelling range of sustainable telecoms solutions".

The study, compiled by Verdantix, analysed the work of operators including Telefonica, BT and Vodafone, claiming that many leading telecoms companies are guilty of this, despite previously winning praise for their efforts in the same areas.

European telecoms providersVerdantix's research claimed that only Orange had made "deep and broad commitments" into sustainable options for their telecommunications customers.

The director for the firm behind the study added that companies including BT and Deutsche Telekom had also addressed issues such as fuel consumption and energy efficiency.

He stated, "There is little evidence that Europe's telcos as a whole make meaningful contributions to their customers' sustainability goals."

In related telecommunications news, rumours surfaced earlier this month that mobile telecoms giant Orange could be set to enter a merger agreement with rival group T-Mobile.
